"Private Spaces"
Tamlin Blake

Dates: 05/10/08 to 22/10/08
Opening: 6pm, 5 November 2008

Curious, Whetstone & Frankley is pleased to announce a new show, Private Spaces by Tamlin Blake, opening at 6pm on Wednesday 5 November 2008.

The major themes of Tamlin’s work revolve around cross-cultural South African symbols of wealth, status and belonging. Her work for this exhibition - a combination of small clay sculptures and reverse painted perspex images - delves even closer to home, into the intimate spaces of family relationships. “The last two years of my life have been overwhelmingly committed to the private world of my new family,” says Tamlin. “My recent work reflects this close and all-consuming experience and the unfamiliar space that my new identity inhabits.”

Tamlin (1974 - ) received a Masters Degree in Fine Art from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001 and now lives and works in Riebeek West near Cape Town. Her work is included in prestigious collections and has been shown in numerous exhibitions overseas and in South Africa.
