Curious, Whetstone & Frankley wanders deep into the world of the imagination with a show of wall art for children, opening on 3 December 2008. The Playroom's works combine sophistication and whimsy, illustration, narrative and attention to detail. These images will transport a child to other worlds from the wall of her bedroom. They are heirlooms for children.

Well-known artists and illustrators participating include Julia Anastasopoulos (knolc), Patrick Latimer, Alex Latimer, Hannah Morris, Toby Newsome and Claire Walker.

Julia Anastasopoulos (knolc) is a well-known local designer working in various mediums (including plush toys). Parents might know her from the kiddies section mural she painted at The Book Lounge.

Colwyn Thomas graduated from the Michaelis school of Fine Art in 2003. A classical training in line drawing has gradually merged with a variety of modern styles and techniques to create a body of work rooted both within and without traditional codes of the old and new.

Patrick Latimer is an illustrator with a rollicking imagination and a nose for fun. Together with his brother Alex, he writes the witty The Western Nostril cartoon strip in Business Day.

Hannah Morris is an artist and cartoonist and illustrator of the award-winning bilingual children's book Utsepho Mde: Tall Enough (Vuvu Books).

Toby Newsome's illustrations and designs are scattered through magazines and on the covers of books throughout the country – smart and endearing, and bursting with imagination.

Claire Walker aims to create a sense of magic in her work. Her simple yet engaging pieces are created using paper to collage and assemblage.
