Nest
Nest Exhibition: 2 to 31 July 2008, Opening: 6pm, Wednesday 2 July
Nest Soup Kitchen: Wednesday 9, 16, 23, 30 July, 6pm to 8pm

Thirteen artists and craftspeople have created works that celebrate the cosiness of home. Nest revels in the domestic. It's your granny's blanket, your comfy slippers, your favourite coffee mug, the sound of rain on the roof while you're snuggled in bed...

Jesse Breytenbach shows her gently humorous and accomplished drawings, prints and linocuts. Heather Moore shows meticulously executed paper cut-outs. Jesse and Heather are also collaborating to create unique printed crockery. Alta Stegman shows her charming “illustrated affirmations”.

Complementing the wall art is a selection of exclusive homeware. Helon Melon limited edition linen feathers the nest. Homebakes ceramics keep things tactile with teapots made from tea-cosies and candle sticks made from cupcakes. Bunnies (fluffy and not) feature in Janine de Waal and Gussie van der Merwe's works in bronze and silver. Meld jewellery present limited edition winter broaches. Colleen Roberts' traditional crocheted cushions are the must-have accessory for the nested home.

Wednesday nights in July will be Soup Kitchen nights. Buy a bowl of piping hot homemade soup... and keep the bowl! Karen Kotze and Christo Giles will be participating.
